“My name is Nathan, and I almost died four years ago.” It's how Nathan Chilton opens his talk - and everything after it is about what he learned by coming back.
Across a decade, three surgeries and a Type 1 diabetes diagnosis slowly took him apart. The last operation removed 75% of his right pelvis and cost him two and a half litres of blood; he was told he might one day walk again - with a stick.
He taught himself to walk instead. Since then he has completed a 75km ultra, raising £6,000 for Sarcoma UK, and twice set out to climb the full height of Everest - refusing, each time, to accept where the line was drawn.
Nathan will share the exact mindset that carried him from relearning a single step to distances most people never attempt - how to find certainty inside uncertainty, why clarity only ever comes through taking the first step, and why the only limitations are the ones we place on ourselves.
